Lindsey Vonn, Tiger Woods, and the missing tooth

It’s official, Lindsey Vonn now holds the record for the most career World Cup wins. Vonn won the Super-G at Cortina in Italy putting her at 63 career wins. The former record was held by Austrian Annemarie Moser-Proell, who raced predominantly in the 70′s.

This was Vonn’s first Super-G win since December 2012, two months before she blew out her knee. Lindsey’s time of one minute, 27.03 seconds was 0.85 of a second faster than silver medalist Anna Fenninger of Austria. “I had no pressure,” Vonn said, “I was just skiing and doing the best I could. I felt like it was a training run, just pushing myself as hard as I could.” She may have felt more pressure, had she known there was a surprise waiting just down the hill. Not only were Lindsey’s parents there for the event, but her boyfriend – Tiger Woods.

“I had no idea he was here,” Vonn told reporters in the finish area. “He told everyone to keep it a secret and I’m surprised. Normally no one can keep a secret in my family, but it was an amazing surprise. I’m so happy that he’s here. He just showed up. He has a tournament soon, so he’s got a lot of work (to do), and I’m surprised that he was able to come all the way over here for a few hours to watch me ski.”

But actually, Tiger showed up two more surprises. One, his cool skull patterned face-danna. The second? the hole in his grill. The AP was able to snap pictures of his leaky teeth.

Tiger claimed his tooth was knocked out by a cameraman, but this seems to make little sense. No one has confirmed seeing this happen, and Tiger exhibited no signs of pain or a swollen lip. Other outlets are covering the confusion.

Vonn later hoped on Facebook to reaffirm the tooth story:

“When he was in the finish area a cameraman accidentally knocked into him and took out his front tooth,” Vonn wrote on Facebook. “He was still in great spirits though and didn’t complain once or ask for any special assistance or security. We were both just happy to share the moment together.”

I think we can all agree – he’s lied once, he could do it again. But hey, no one looks good missing a tooth. Heal up Tiger!
