Freak plane accident in French Alps leaves woman with nearly severed hand

A Polish woman was struck by a light aircraft on Thursday, following a freak take-off accident.

The single-propeller Jodel plane was taking off from the high-altitude runway near the Avoriaz ski resort in the French Alps.

The pilot, unable to stop the plane, narrowly dodged a group of children slid under the chairlift, and clipped the Polish woman – nearly servering her hand. The woman was flown by helicopter to a local hospital.

The plane pilot had done these types of take offs and landings in the past, the prosecutor’s office is doing a full investigation.
