Dean Potter, a man known for his climbing, base jumping, and slack lining (pretty much everything NOT running), has set the fastest known running record for the up and down trail of Half Dome. He completed it in 2 hours, 17 minutes, 52 seconds. This is nearly 6 minutes faster than 21 year old Kyle Williams’ record of 2 hours, 23 minutes, 51 seconds. This record has been held since 2014.

Potter reportedly did not carry any food or water.

Dean Potter has been known for some of his controversial adventures. Outside has reported on his delicate arch climb, as well as his wing suit flying dog.
